A CUP OF COLD WATER

The Reward of Service

Matthew 10:39-42

“He who receives and welcomes you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.

He who receives and welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous (honorable) man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.

And whoever gives to one of these little ones [these who are humble in rank or influence] even a cup of cold water to drink because he is my disciple, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.”

Wow! I honestly just saw this passage more clearly for the first time - just now.

This is so powerful!

When you support those in ministry, not only do you further the Kingdom to the saving of souls and transforming of lives; but this passage explains how YOU will also personally benefit from the anointing of those on the front lines!

When you receive those sent by God, YOU are actually receiving God and His Kingdom at work.

When you receive and welcome a prophet, YOU will receive a prophet's reward.

When you receive and respect a righteous man, YOU will receive a righteous man's reward - and, Psalm 103 says that there are "benefits" for those who bless the Lord.

When you supply "drink" (refreshing, encouragement, aid, financial support, honor, respect, volunteer, pray for, etc.) those who humbly give of their life to help others mature in Christ, YOU will not lose your reward.

So... if you are praying for God to do something in YOUR LIFE today, be sure to bless those who are sent by God.
