How to Pray Effectively

How to pray effectively...

1) Pray Without Wavering
James 1:6-8 – “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

2) Pray With Confidence in God’s Word
Matthew 7:7-11 – “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

3) Pray with Boldness
Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

4) Pray Always!
Ephesians 6:18 – “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

5) Pray From Your Spirit
Romans 8:26 – “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

6) Pray About Everything!
Philippians 4:6 – “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Supplication - Strongs #1162 - need, indigence (seriously impoverished condition; poverty), want, privation (lack of the usual comforts or necessaries of life), penury (scarcity; dearth; inadequacy; insufficiency), a seeking, asking, entreating, entreaty to God or to man

7) Pray With THANKSGIVING Expecting God to Bless You!
Colossians 4:2 – “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;”

8) Pray in FAITH
James 5:15 – “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”

7) Pray With A CLEAN HEART
James 5:16 – “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
God does not hear or respond to all prayers
1 Peter 3:7 – (tells husbands to give honor to their wives so that their prayers won’t be hindered).
1 Peter 3:12 – says that the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

8) Pray Sober
1 Peter 4:7 – “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”

9) Sometimes You’ll Need to Fast & Pray
Matthew 17:21 – the disciples could not cure the lunatic boy who kept falling into the fire and Jesus said they needed to FAST and PRAY.

10) Pray According to the Model Prayer that Jesus Prayed
Matthew 6:9-13 – “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

First - Call out God's Name(s) & Character - "Hallowed be thy Name"

Second - Acknowledge that His will is to bring heaven to earth - "Thy Kingdom come... on earth as it is in heaven."

Third - Ask for the petition of your heart - "Daily bread."

Fourth - Forgive everyone who has hurt or wronged you before asking for forgiveness - "And forgive us our debts..."

Fifth - Pray for God to help you to escape, overcome, avoid and run from the temptations and trappings that the devil sets before you - "And lead us not into temptation..."

Sixth - Acknowledge that God has ALL POWER & ALL GLORY - "for Thine is the Kingdom..."

SeventhThank Him! - "Amen." - means surely, indeed, truly

11) Be sure to pray in JESUS name!
John 14:13 - Jesus said, "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."

Mother's Day Prayer

Below is a prayer that makes a great gift for mom on Mother's
Day or on any special occasion!

Dear Precious Lord:

I pray all of heavens blessings on my mom today... and always.
Please keep her safe and healthy all the days of her life.
Give her joy unspeakable and a peace that passes all understanding.
I pray that You would grant her the desire of her heart.
I pray that my mother would prosper and be in health, even as her soul prospers.
I pray that no weapon formed against her will ever prosper.
I pray that any  enemy that rises up against her one way will flee from her in seven directions.
I pray that You will take her up to the high place in times of confusion so that she can see things from Your perspective.
I pray that her heart will safely trust in You.
Help her to live in the secret place with You - each and every day.
Surround her with Christian friends who will help her grow in her faith.
I pray that she will grow in knowledge and understanding of Your Word and that Wisdom will be her guide.
Lord, I pray that my mom knows how much she is loved by her family.
Give her eyes to see the heart of those who sincerely want the best for her.
Keep my sweet mother in the palm of Your strong hand.
Help me to be a better daughter so that Your love shines bright in all that I do and say.
Thank You, Lord, for my precious mother.
I am so thankful that you gave her to me.
She is my example of strength, courage and beauty.
Let mercy and grace follow her all the days of her life.
In Jesus Name, AMEN.
